Why use a burial vault?
Not only is a burial vault required in some cemeteries, but it’s the vault that distributes the weight of the earth above.
This prevents dangerous shifts that could disturb any headstone or marker and protects the casket from being crushed from the earth used to fill the grave.
It also protects the casket from the weight of cemetery equipment which could sit over the grave at one time or another.
