More than 75 years of making burial vaults for the funeral directors of New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware.
In 1949, Howard “Duke” Etherington and John Bradbury opened the Bradbury Burial Vault Co. in Runnemede, NJ. Soon after, they moved the company to its current location, which sits below the grade of the adjacent road. The site was formerly a bus repair shop and, before that, the quarry used to build Route 42.
Duke and his family had established the Etherington Funeral Home of Gloucester City, NJ, at the turn of the century.

From 1949 to the late 1950’s, the two owners ran the vault company and served only New Jersey funeral directors. In 1960, Lawrence Kenney, Sr. offered to buy a one-third share of the company, confident that he could double its business overnight. His family owned Kenney Casket Co., then the largest casket manufacturer in Philadelphia, and through its funeral director customers he kept his word.
Within two years, Mr. Bradbury passed away and Mr. Etherington moved to Montana, leaving the company entirely to Larry Sr. He used his Philadelphia funeral director contacts to keep growing the business, and between 1963 and 1984 production grew to ten times its earlier volume.

Lawrence Kenney, Jr. joined the company in 1984. He preferred to grow by acquiring the competition, and he bought three of the seven companies serving the Philadelphia region: Century Vault, Egg Harbor City Vault Company, and Hough Burial Vault. By 1998, Bradbury was operating four plants and producing 40 times the volume it had when the Kenney family arrived. It had also expanded into monuments, giving funeral directors an affordable way to offer families markers, monuments, and engraving. With Larry Jr. leading the company and his brother Billy managing day-to-day production and staff, Bradbury quickly became the largest burial vault manufacturer in the tri-state area.
In the years that followed, Larry Jr. consolidated the company’s four locations into a single plant in Blackwood, NJ. The move gave the company better control and lower costs while keeping production at the same high level.

Lawrence Kenney, Sr. passed away on December 13, 2021, at the age of 101. In September 2022, the Kenney brothers sold the business to Nick DiValentino, who now serves as Bradbury’s Owner and President. Nick came from the funeral director side of the industry, so he arrived with years of experience, a deep familiarity with Bradbury’s products, and a vision to expand and diversify the company. Under his leadership, Bradbury’s volume has tripled. Through a strategic partnership with Trigard, one of the nation’s leading burial vault suppliers, the company has also developed new products and services while keeping its high standards for product quality and customer service.
Nick runs the business alongside his brother and business partner, Christopher Liggio, Bradbury’s Vice President. Together they have grown Bradbury’s customer base, further securing its place as the largest burial vault manufacturer in the tri-state area. Bradbury also acquired Intelligent Construction Concepts, Inc., which let it make more kinds of precast concrete products than just burial vaults. That acquisition became a new precast division, Quality Cast.
Quality Cast manufactures everything from light pole foundations, transformer pads, and transformer vaults to benches, parking bumpers, and more. Nick’s push to diversify was a clear step toward bringing Bradbury into the modern era.

In 2024, Bradbury made its first burial vault acquisition under Nick’s ownership: Dodson Vault Company & Talley’s Cemetery Services of Williamstown, NJ. Nick and Chris merged the Dodson plant into Bradbury’s own.
The acquisition was strategic for more than the added volume. Dodson was the local licensed dealer for Eagle burial vaults, so the deal brought the Eagle brand to Bradbury. It also diversified the company further by adding grave digging and other cemetery services. Nick is honored that Ed Dodson, Ed Dodson Jr., and now Ed Dodson III all still work with him at Bradbury. Ed Sr. actually started his career at Bradbury in the early 1970s, so selling his company to Bradbury brought him full circle.

The Kenney and Dodson families built a company culture centered on quality, integrity, and customer service. Those values are the foundation of Bradbury, and the DiValentino family will continue to uphold them for its customers long into the future.

Did you know that Princess Grace’s father is buried in a Bradbury Vault?

On June 20, 1960, the legendary John B. “Jack” Kelly, Sr.—Olympic champion, businessman, politician, and the man for whom Philadelphia’s Kelly Drive is named—passed away. The funeral home that handled his services was (and still remains) a proud Bradbury customer.
Pictured here under a tent at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Cheltenham, PA, are Princess Grace of Monaco, her husband Prince Rainier III of Monaco, and her mother Margaret Kelly.
In front of them sits Mr. Kelly’s casket, resting on a Bradbury Bronze Lined Walcor Burial Vault and displayed using the Bradbury Way Service.
We love uncovering these incredible chapters of our company’s past. Moments like this remind us of our deep roots and make us incredibly honored to continue Bradbury’s rich history and legacy of service.

Nick DiValentino was born in October 1988, in the vibrant city of Philadelphia. Growing up in a close-knit Italian American community, Nick developed a passion for family, good Italian food, and sports at an early age, particularly football. He excelled on the field, showcasing remarkable talent, discipline, and dedication, which led him to pursue a collegiate football career. However, his aspirations were cut short at the age of 17 when he suffered a career-ending injury. This pivotal moment forced Nick to reassess his future, but it also ignited his entrepreneurial spirit, which had been of interest to him since childhood.
Before his football career ended, Nick had begun working at local funeral homes to earn money. At just 16 years old, he began assisting with pallbearing and viewings at local Philadelphia funeral homes. This experience deepened his understanding of the importance of compassion and support during difficult times. Working in this environment not only honed his empathy but also sparked his interest in the business side of the funeral industry. This path took Nick to mortuary school where he continued his education in the funeral industry and met lifelong friends and contacts within the industry. Once the prospect of owning the funeral home he managed ended, he began to look for his next move.
Driven by his desire to be in control of his own destiny, Nick envisioned a career where he could merge his interests in service and entrepreneurship. In September 2022, he took a significant step toward this goal by purchasing the Bradbury Burial Vault Company, Philadelphia’s leading supplier of burial vaults with a colorful 75+ year history in the industry. Under his leadership, the business experienced remarkable growth within just three years. Nick expanded the company’s already extensive customer base and diversified its offerings by acquiring an additional precast entity, forming a sister company, Bradbury Quality Cast. This strategic move allowed Bradbury to broaden its product line, introducing items such as light pole foundations, transformer pads, transformer vaults, and more, alongside its traditional burial vaults. Nick also serves as Chairman, The Bradbury Family of Companies Board of Directors.
In February of 2025, Nick spearheaded yet another strategic acquisition, Dodson Vault Company and Talley’s Cemetery Services. This acquisition expanded Bradbury’s New Jersey customer base substantially and introduced the Eagle Burial Vault brand to the company’s offerings, along with an extensive grave digging operation.
Nick’s journey is a testament to resilience and innovation. From a promising athlete to a compassionate, decisive, tough entrepreneur, he has channeled his experiences into building a successful business that serves his community and continues Bradbury’s rich legacy in Philadelphia and the tri-state area. His story inspires others to adapt and thrive in the face of adversity, demonstrating that with determination and vision, one can turn setbacks into opportunities. As Bradbury Burial Vault Company continues to flourish under his stewardship, Nick remains committed to upholding the values of care and service that first drew him to the funeral industry while also being realistic about the industry’s future by diversifying. Nick lives, eats, sleeps, and breathes burial vaults and has a ‘geek-like’ interest in everything burial vault. It has become his passion.

With the addition of Talley’s Cemetery Services, our crews handle the work at the cemetery as well as the vault: openings and closings, graveside setups, grounds care, precast lawn crypts and columbaria for cemeteries across the tri-state area.
Openings and closings performed by experienced crews with the right equipment for each section of the cemetery. We excavate to the correct size and depth for the vault being set, protect neighboring graves and turf, and backfill and restore the site once the service is complete.
Our crews prepare the graveside before the family arrives, so the funeral director can focus on the service. The setup is placed neatly and safely, and removed once the committal is finished.
Grounds care and day-to-day management that keep a cemetery looking cared for between services. We work with cemetery owners on regular schedules, ongoing management or one-time projects.
We cast precast concrete lawn crypts at our Blackwood plant and install them on site, giving cemeteries a ready-made, uniform crypt section under the lawn.
We build it, we install it, and you profit. Our team manages the whole columbarium project for cemeteries, churches and memorial gardens: design, sitework, foundation, delivery and installation.

A lawn crypt is a precast concrete chamber set in the ground before burials take place. Rows of crypts are installed as a single section, then covered with lawn, so each interment goes into a clean, dry, ready-made space.
